The Next Super Smash Bros.

It’s no secret that I love Nintendo. Many of the posts on this blog heavily revolve around the design of their games and my own experiences with them.  There isn’t a game that this is more true for than Super Smash Bros. 

As a pass time, I take an interest in researching the characters, learning about their origins, and deciphering the design choices made by series director Masahiro Sakurai. Being a celebration of all of Nintendo’s characters, the pressure to portray them correctly is met with the sharpest of eyes.

The Death of Jumping? The Evolution of Vertical Movement in 3D Games

The jump has become synonymous with gaming, but has it become obsolete?

In my last jump related post, we talked about the origins of the ability and the impact it had on the gaming world. Naturally, the next big evolution in gaming was the jump to 3D. 

Super Mario 64 is often where people look for the onset of 3D gaming.  Many of you may already be aware of it’s impact. However, it wasn’t the first video game to dabble with the idea.

12 Nintendo And Overwatch Crossover Characters!

Last year, I fell in love with Overwatch. What probably draws me to the game are the amount of unique and interesting characters that have made yet-another-shooter come alive.  The only other company that has been able to have that effect on me is Nintendo in their Super Smash Brothers titles.  This naturally got my mind racing about the similarities between Overwatch and Nintendo characters and the concept of a shooter with them in it!

So today, we’re going to let our nostalgic juices flow as we imagine a game of Overwatch with Nintendo characters!
